Diffuse X-ray Background (DXB) of Insight-HXMT/LE
Release date:2022-04-28 16:03:57 Author:

This website provides the results of the Diffuse X-ray Background (DXB) of Insight-HXMT/LE Telescope in the Galactic Plane (Jin et al. 2022, submitted to ApJS).

As discribed in Jin et al. (2022), the Galactic plane (0° < < 360°, |b| < 10°, where l and b are Galactic longitude and Galactic latitude, respectively) is divided into 7200 (360 × 20) small pixels with 1° × 1° per pixel. For each pixel, a DXB spectrum detected by Insight-HXMT/LE and its corresponding response file are provided, both of which are in format of fits. It should be emphasized that, as stated in Jin et al. (2022), the spectrum is not normalized to per square degree. HXMT-LE_DXB_Spec_eachpixel.tar.gz contains the spectra for every pixel. HXMT-LE_DXB_RSP_eachpixel.tar.gz contains the corresponding response files (RSP). The naming regulations for the spectrum file and the RSP file are as follows. For example, LE_DXB_l_344.5_b_-9.5_spec.fits is the DXB spectrum file of the pixel whose Galactic longitude and latitude central values are 344.5° and -9.5°, respectively. LE_DXB_l_344.5_b_-9.5_rsp.fits is its corresponding RSP (the RSP has the same naming regulation as the spectrum file; the only differcence is that the string 'spec' is replaced by 'rsp').

HXMT-LE_DXB_systematic_error.list is a table in txt format, which contains the systematic error for the spectrum of each pixel. This table has seven columns. The first column is the pixel ID (from 0 to 7199). The second and third columns are the Galactic longitude and latitude central values of this pixel, respectively. The fourth, fifth, and sixth columns are for box-0, box-1, and box-2, respectively, while value 1 and 0 denote using SNIP and directly observed data, respectively. The seventh column is the total systematic error for the spectrum of this pixel.
